Stephen Robert is the former chairman and CEO of Oppenheimer Group Inc. and is currently serving as a trustee at the Perez Art Museum in Miami. With a strong commitment to philanthropy, Stephen K. Robert and his wife, Pilar Crespi Robert, founded the Source of Hope Foundation. Their foundation was crucial in funding the Stephen Robert and Pilar Crespi Robert Rapid Medical Evaluation Center at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
Source of Hope Foundation has funded a program that enables rapid patient diagnoses at New York Presbyterian’s Columbia University Medical Center. The program reduces the previous average waiting period (nine hours) to under three hours. New York Presbyterian is a renowned academic medical center that offers preventive, ambulatory, and inpatient care in virtually all aspects of medicine. Source of Hope also funded the Community Health Project of New York Presbyterian, which helps low-income communities use emergency rooms optimally for their well-being. Volunteers at the program reach out to ER patients at home and over the telephone and assist them with tasks such as medical appointment booking, medication refilling, and navigating through insurance options. The program has reduced repeat ER visits at New York Presbyterian’s Columbia University Medical Center by 50 percent.
