The chairman and CEO of the New York City-based Oppenheimer Group, Inc., Stephen Robert is also a chancellor emeritus of Brown University. The co-founder of the Source of Hope Foundation along with his wife Pilar Crespi Robert, Stephen Robert helps to direct the foundation’s anti-poverty efforts. Source of Hope Foundation recently donated to the Henry Street Settlement of the Lower East Side. The $100,000-gift will enable the recipient organization to continue to provide health care, arts, senior, and youth programming to nearly 50,000 residents each year. In addition to providing housekeeping services to senior citizens and disabled people, Henry Street Settlement also offers mental health services, adult basic education classes, and a computer lab at one of its shelters for the homeless. Saying Henry Street is close to her heart, Mrs. Robert is particularly involved with the organization's work with domestic violence victims. In addition to supporting Henry Street, the Source of Hope Foundation has constructed technical schools for young women in southern Ethiopia, provided emergency medical care in Haiti, and established health-care outposts in Malawi and Tanzania.
