Former Oppenheimer Group Chairman and CEO Stephen K. Robert continues the philanthropic legacy of his family through the Source of Hope Foundation and other efforts to support cultural, educational, and social welfare institutions. Stephen Robert, a chancellor emeritus of Brown University, was most recently elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Jorge M. Pérez Art Museum (PAMM) in Miami.
The Pérez Art Museum focuses on collecting modern and contemporary work from the 20th and 21st centuries. Among its most recent large-scale exhibitions is the one devoted to the work of Yayoi Kusama, entitled "Love Is Calling." The exhibit installation, which runs through February 2024, immerses viewers in the artist's kaleidoscope of images that draw on the iconography of Pop, psychedelic art, and Minimalism. The Japanese-born Kusama, now in her 90s, has created several popular immersive works over the decades, often featuring her signature motif of polka dots in rainbows of color. The "Love Is Calling" show brings in polka dot motifs, rich colors, iconic soft sculpture pieces, and manipulations of images and space. As the largest and most comprehensive of her Infinity Mirrored Rooms series, "Love Is Calling" offers numerous variations on the theme of infinity.
